What a Cancer Doctor Wants You to Know About Value-Based Care
It’s astounding how our understanding of cancer has grown over the many years I’ve been treating patients at Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology. Now more than ever, the cost of care is vital to patients.
It’s a sad truth that insurance may not cover all the procedures involved in advanced care, a financial strain at a terrible time.
FWMOH is the only practice in Indiana to participate with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Innovation Center to reduce the cost of cancer care. We’ve actually redesigned portions of our practice to keep financial impact low without jeopardizing the quality of your treatment.
Cancer Won’t Wait, Why Should You?
We make every effort to see patients ASAP. You’ll often see an FWMOH physician within just days of your first call. This fast access to experienced oncologists helps patients overcome the fear and doubt of a cancer diagnosis.
Here For You – Always
Minimizing unnecessary hospital expenses helps everyone. One way we do this is by making care more convenient.
- FWMOH offers a no-appointment walk-in clinic at our Dupont Road office.
- Weekend hours help address complications and avoid unnecessary hospital visits.
- Our 24-hour patient hotline connects you to a care specialist. Never worry if how you feel requires urgent care – even at 3AM.
- FWMOH doctors visit 13 northeast Indiana communities and Hicksville, OH every week. Bringing advanced care to you is another way we minimize your cost.
Discussing the cost of care is something many physicians wish to avoid. But, I hope you can tell I’m proud of the changes we’ve made to serve FWMOH patients while controlling cost.
